Irish food processor Kepak Group has launched a review of its beef deboning and cutting operations at its Clonee facility, citing ongoing supply pressures across the Irish beef sector
The company said reduced national cattle kills have led to lower processing volumes, leaving Kepak with more deboning and cutting capacity than current supply levels can support. The review is intended to better align processing capacity with longer-term beef supply trends and support more stable and sustainable operations.
Kepak confirmed that the abattoir at Clonee is not affected and will continue to operate as normal. The company also stressed its ongoing commitment to sourcing cattle from its established farmer supply base, as it has done at the site for more than four decades.
While no decisions have yet been made, Kepak acknowledged the review has created uncertainty for staff. A 30-day consultation process with potentially affected employees is now under way, with the company exploring redeployment options across its wider business in an effort to retain as many roles as possible.
